Quick Update!!

OMG. Abandoned my blog for so long and …. someone please lecture me more about 2010 resolution thingy. Haihh.. Really sorry my dear pink blog. But I have reasons, you know.

1. Grandpa admitted to the hospital, done a surgery, waiting for another surgery.

2. My super dad had fever and yet went to Tawau with mum, fainted, came back and diagnosed with dengue fever by the doctor but already on the recovery stage. Mum and I still insist that dad get himself admitted for observation.

3. Work in the office is getting more and more crazy. Drama and work and gossips. Tsk tsk tsk.

4. Phone giving me a problem for uploading photographs to my lappie. So unable to update.

5. Cameron trip with ji muis and bf. Fun fun and fun :)

I think that’s about it :)

Food updates in random order :)

Visited Palate Palatte with Calvin for dinner the other day.

Interior of the restaurant. We have to sit outside because the tables inside were reserved earlier by other people. They still have one table at the entrance but the 2 idiots beside us were smoking indoor. Sometimes, I do wonder why are the smokers are being so idiot by smoking indoors. Don’t they know that they will suffocate ppl surrounding them? IDIOTS!!!!

Calvin ordered Chicken Lasagne. Portion quite small but really filling. My burger steak with 4 types of sauces. Seriously, the appearance of my food is not nice at all. I ordered my beef burger patty well, they gave me barely medium well. The this outer layer was just ngam ngam cooked type while the inner portion was totally raw. Absolutely yucky!!! The cappuccino mushroom was just like a normal one with foam on top. Seriously, this place is in my No Good folder. I may visit there again to other normal food. If their normal food like chicken chop still sucks to the max, it will be black listed from my life forever. This is also the first place in my No Good folder that I will consider to pay a second visit to give it another chance.

Before going for shopping at Sg Wang the other day, I requested for a meal for lunch at Isetan’s food court as I heard the hokkien mee is open for business.

Out of the food that we order, the hokkien mee was the best. It was in fact the best hokkien mee in town. Really yummy :) Bak kut teh is not nice at all. Maybe I don’t like bak kut teh with thick gravy style. I still prefer mine at Pandan Jaya. The roast duck and siew yok looked really good on the glass cabinet but don’t taste good at all. It’s from Ducking, the chinese restaurant just below my office area :)

Visited Little Vietnam with Calvin for dinner as well. I missed Melbourne’s beef noodle very much. This is the closest I can get :(

My faithful food model :) That drink is very funny. Check out the pokok that they use to decorate the drink. Haha. It tasted like grass water for me, which is yucky but Calvin loves it. Maybe he’s a tiger with cow body. Haha.

Dinner at Piccadilly after work.

Their menu has more than 100 food and drinks to choose from. Indian, Chinese, Malay, Western food are served on the menu. It’s a great place to hang out with friends for drinks and gossips :) Food is good and price was reasonable :) Me like :)

Suggested Sakae to Calvin for dinner the other day when I have this sudden urge for western food :)

Recommended Chicken White Sauce to Calvin and he absolutely love it. I ordered Chicken Carbonara and it’s absolutely heaven!! The squid is really nice as well. A must try for all :)

Initial plan of Domino’s Pizza for dinner was cancelled when we passed by Sakura Sakura restaurant. Haha.

Our set meals. This is the first time I spot pork on the menu and ordered it right away. Haha. It’s really yummy!! Calvin’s set was really value for money as the sashimi and unagi were very fresh :) This restaurant was located at the same row of Wind Mill restaurant near Sime Darby Medical Centre.

Restaurant Wei Kee in Pudu is the place in KL to go for Roasted Goose.

It’s sour plum sauce is the most yummy sour plum sauce that I have ever tasted. The proportion of sourness and sweetness is just right. The meat of the roasted goose was soft and infused with the spice and roast flavour. Talking about it is enough to make me salivate :)

Food model demonstrating how to grill meat over charcoal. This restaurant called Yakiniku is in Pandan Indah. YES!! Pandan Indah. Really near to my house. Will be visiting this place more often for grilled goodies. It really reminds me of my favourite restaurant at Taiwan where it’s buffet style. The food variety is more abundance there and the air conditioner is cold enough to keep us cold over the hot charcoal. But Yakiniku is just as good as the one in Taiwan, but it’s not buffet style :( Hehe.

Last will be about my Cameron trip. Most of the photographs can be seen at King Hui’s album in Facebook.

We had steamboat in the apartment and I may have over shopped for the food the other day. Hehe.

The next day, we went to Ipoh for food and I went down earlier to visit my grandpa in the hospital. Looking at him immobilised to the bed in the hospital really broke my heart into million pieces. But the good thing that he’s still alive and that is all that matters :) We went to Tg Tualang for dinner.

We should have more trips like this in the future to release stress and gossips okay :) I heart all my girls and their bf and my own bf.

Do you know that I have my own Dalang as well? Nehh….. the one that I mentioned some time ago about this Taiwanese Series starring Rainie Yang and Show Luo. It’s a comedy-romance series where Show Luo’s looked really cute at the beginning of the series. Now, I have my own Dalang as well :)

Ladies and gentleman, I give you…..

cngdalang

NG DALANG!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

This is the display photo for Calvin on my phone. So every time he calls and smses me, this face will appear. Cute right? He’s holding the pink panther as well :) Awww…..

I guess that’s all for this post. Recently a lot of unlucky things happened to my loved ones. I hope they will stay safe and healthy throughout the year. I love you all!!! *drama drama drama*

Yummy Char Koay Teow

Finally received the resized photographs from Calvin yesterday. I’m really satisfied with the trip and Min Min and Siu Hak :)

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

This is Calvin’s creation when I was googling about the food in Penang. Me, being a science student, decided to give the tiger and pig a slim body :)

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

FYI, those are not nipples!! Those are legs. I think that I have a good career in arts, don’t you?

Our trip started early Friday morning where we decided to stop at Ipoh for breakfast :) Decided to bring Calvin to Sun Hin Loong cafe.

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

His white coffee (i think) and my hot milo. It’s really nice. I have never tasted a hot milo that will not separate into 2 layers after you left it there for some time. Really uber good.

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

The kaya butter toast and half boiled egg. Bread was really good. But the egg turned out to be over cooked. The weird thing about the eggs were the yolk was completely cook but the egg white still quite watery.

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

This is my first trying their prawn noodle and it’s quite good. It’s better than the one we had in Penang. Will talk about it later.

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

The pale looking shredded chicken noodle. May look pale but then it tasted exactly like Old Town’s Ipoh Chicken Hor Fun. I’m serious! After the first taste of the noodle, the first sentence that came out from my mouth waste “Taste exactly like Old Town’s”. Haha.

After breakfast, we continued our journey to Penang. It rained quite heavily along the highway but luckily I’m not driving. As usual, after food and with such cooling weather, I slept all the way from Ipoh to Penang. Poor Calvin has to drive alone with no one to talk to :( sorry ah :p

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

The Penang bridge. Weather was good. It was a smooth journey along the highways but once we reached the island, it started to jam. Haihzzz…

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

A really nice wall of some house or shop that sells exterior decoration.

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

Check out the size of the mangoesteen! It’s nearly the size of the coconut :p

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

Final Fantasy car. So pretty :) Even though I have no idea who that girl is. Haha.

Our first stop definitely has to be Char Koay Teow.

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

This is, by far, the most yummy char koay teow that I have ever eaten. Really really good.

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

Since both of us has a list of food and things to do for the day, we ordered one large portion and shared it. The prawns are really big and super crunchy (means it’s really fresh). Both of us love it very much that…

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

We swallowed the whole plate of noodle within 5 minutes. Haha. Love the restaurant cause it’s really clean. Luckily we went early cause within the 5 minutes, the whole restaurant was full.

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

The cook and the helper. She don’t look friendly but I wonder why does she has to put on the protective glasses? Any idea?

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

Next stop was the best prawn paste rojak. It’s really sticky and concentrated, unlike the one that we usually have which is watery. Generous amount of peanuts were sprinkled all over the plate. Really yummy!!

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

Calvin’s cendol. No comment cause I don’t like cendol but Calvin said it’s okay.

After lunch, we went temple visiting :)

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

The reclining Buddha temple.

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

The statue is really big.

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

The foot of the buddha. Can that be considered a tattoo? Haha.

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

We grew big and tall and fat after so many food, even bigger than the reclining buddha. Haha. No no no. this is just a mini size of the reclining buddha :)

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

Calvin’s artistic shot. But the lotus flower candle is really big. Like the size of the rojak bowl. Haha.

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

Us with the guards of the temple. They are standing there with a wide smile on the face for our camera :)

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

Just across the reclining buddha’s temple is this Thai buddhist temple, which is very pretty as well.

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

The temple is covered with gold!! From roof top, to statues, to….

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

The huge buddha statue. What I love most about this temple is the wood carving on the roof and pillar of the temple. The wood are carved nicely with motifs that look like flower :) Pretty :)

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

See see see :) Pretty right?

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

The huge globe at the back of the temple :)

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

There’s this pond where the wall at the side of the pond tells about story of the prince who wanted to cross to .. umm… somewhere where the good people are behind him supporting him to cross over. Those in front of him are bad people who discourage him to cross over.

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

There’s this electrical thingy that turned round and round and round. Each pot has this good fortune thing ranging from wealth, health, prosperity, success and good luck. My coin landed in the good luck pot. Hehe.

For dinner, we went to Northram food court for dinner.

 Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

Yummy asam laksa with generous amount of prawn paste and vegetables :) Really good.

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

Ever since I came back from Australia few years ago, whenever I bumped into bratwurst sausage, I will order them. But none that I had so far can replace the one in Melbourne. This was just so-so but the mashed potato was really good.

 Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

The weird taste mochi. We thought those sauce on top of the mochi is thousand island (judging by it’s colour) but it turns out to be something else which both of us have no idea what it is. Anyway, it does not went well with the mochi. Wasted~~~

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

Ikan bakar. Quite yummy. Love the sauce with raw onion. Haha.

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

Calvin decided to order Vietnam rice with lamb. Quite good. The sauce tasted really funny but then it’s quite good.

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

Table full of food, food and food :)

On the next day, we woke up early and headed to Bayan Lepas for breakfast.

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

My nasi lemak. It’s not that bad but could be better if the sambal is less watery :)

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

The bread with butter. Tasted really good when dipped with…

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

HALF BOILED EGG!!! Calvin is a big fan of half boiled egg and I’m a big fan of cracking the half boiled egg and mix it with small amount of light soya sauce. Haha. Good combination right? I know :)

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

After breakfast, we headed to the snake temple which is just nearby our breakfast place. No more photos because I’m absolutely afraid of snake and Calvin has to go in alone. According to him, there were 2 snakes on the coiled rattan just beside the buddha statues. On the right of the temple is this snake farm where there’s this really long and huge python. Calvin did not went in because he don’t want to left me alone outside waiting for him. Haha.

Visited Kek Lok Si after that.

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE                                                Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

Took the elevator up on the hill to meet….

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

The huge Kuan Yin buddha. On my last visit, there huge hut was not built yet. Calvin said it’s really pretty at night when all the lights around the hut is turn on.

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

I found my long lost twin. Don’t you think that the both of us are looking very pretty in this photo? Haha.

RIMG0121

The fierce Calvin and his cat :) hahaha.

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

We are king and queen for a day where the monkeys hold our chair.

 Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

Went to Ghee Hiang to buy my favourite biscuit and this is where Calvin met his long lost twin (I think both of us are from Penang originally. Haha).

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

It’s so hard to tell the two apart, don’t you think?

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

Went for another round of Char Koay Teow.

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

And it turns out to be 2nd best only :) Haha.

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

Had bak kut teh for lunch. Omg… I do have to say that KL has one of the best bak kut teh in the world. This is absolutely not good. And I have no idea why they placed the big bone there when there is no meat on it. Tsk tsk tsk.

Dinner at night was joined by YB Princess Carsandra (my sis) and her kuli, Mr Brandon (my bro in law). HAHAHAHAHA!!!

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

Calvin has a shop in Penang!! Me can have big diamond ring then :)

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

Koay Chap which was absolutely yummy and delicious. Very little disgusting pork organ found. Haha.

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

Supper for the night was this famous uncle burger tiny lorry at housing area, which is very near to the apartment that we stayed. Frankly speaking, the burger was just normal only. Ramli burger still rules!!! Ohhh… we even bought the unhealthy and fattening deep fried chicken skin for supper. That is yummy :)

The next day, we hunted for another coffee shop  which is famous for the half boiled egg and bread. We can’t locate that shop because it’s not even in a shop. It’s like some belakang lorong stall only. Will go there on the next visit to Penang, which we don’t know when.

Hence, we headed for prawn noodle, which was supposed to be yummy cause it’s really famous. But the wait for the noodle to arrive totally spoilt my mood cause those customers who arrived later than us already got their noodle, swallowed it down and left while me and Calvin are still there. Geram-ness!!

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

This is the outcome of the long wait. Seriously, the prawn noodle in Ipoh is way better than this one. I have no idea why there is a siew yok in the noodle but it’s really not good.

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

But the banana pancake is good though. Could be better if no raisin and sesame seeds :) Haha.

Before we head back to KL, we went to Akuarium Penang for a visit (to act touritst :p) but was dissapointed to know that it’s closed for few months for renovation. Supposed to be ready by March but since they have yet to receive approval of budget from government, it may take longer than few months. Haihzzz..

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

There’s this auditorium with a huge aquarium inside. It’s really scary!! I have this phobia of deep sea and it’s creature, I have no idea why. Haha. But some of the fishes like the turtle and starfish are on the outer side of the building, so it’s still open for public (and F.O.C).

On the way back to KL, we stopped at Ipoh for lunch.

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

We have our lunch at Kong Hing restaurant, which is one of my favourite place in Ipoh for Chicken Hor Fun and pork intestine satay. Yummy, yummy and yummy. Haha. It’s not even over crowded that day, which is good for us as we do not have to wait long for a table.

That’s all for the Penang trip 2010. I think that Penang is a small island which is really concentrated with food, especially Teochew food :). But improvement can be made at their driver’s attitude. They absolutely don’t give way to other drivers on the road, which annoyed me to the max!! Besides that, they love to tail gate your car. NONSENSE!!! Another thing that they should improve is their bak kut teh. Haha. Really not nice at all. Even Brandon koko said the bak kut teh in Penang is not nice at all. The ones in KL are the best!!

Looking forward for all the upcoming trips :) *excited happy walk*
