Ecoba – Girls Gathering

Besides my family, Calvin and Baby, my girls are the 4th most important people in my life. They are the one that stand behind me when I was falling apart, help me up and make sure that I am alright. They are the one who made me realise what friends truly are. Sure, we have different opinions on everything but those differences are what make each and everyone of them so special to me. So it is important for me to have girls gathering with them from time to time. It’s getting harder nowadays to have a gathering as Wai Leng and Pui See are always on jobs. They will be on shoot for the whole night and day. And on the day that they are not shooting, they will be spending time with their partner or just resting at home. But I make sure that I keep in touch with them through MSN to know how are they doing and let them know how am I doing as well.

Since everyone are busy, even birthdays have to be celebrated together on the same day. We celebrated Mei Yee, mine and Tsuey Wenn’s birthday earlier this month. Wai Leng recommended Ecoba since she has been there previously for business purposes. Locating the place is a big challenge for me. I drove there myself and I have no idea how to enter the car park. Luck was on my side that night. I parked nearest to the lift which brought me directly to the bar. Hehe. Me, Wai Leng and Pui See arrived the earliest. So we ordered dinner for ourselves while waiting for others.

Wai Leng ordered Carbonara which was way better than my Chef’s Recommendation Kampung Fried Rice with Fried Chicken. Her pasta was creamy and went well with the mushroom and bacon. My fried rice was a big disappointment as it was practically tasteless. Only the fried chicken was edible. Haihhh….. Shin, as usual, fashionably late (as expected) ordered Aglio Olio which was nice as well. Note to self: order pasta next time. Hehe.

We waited for the others to arrive before ordering beer. The Hoegaarden was huge! I can’t even finish my beer at the end of the night. Maybe I’m not a big fan of beer and also my stomach was full of the yucky fried rice. Hehe.

We bought a birthday present for TW. It’s a rainbow colour sexy underwear where Wai Leng wrote our initial on the back of the underwear because we know that TW will not be wearing the underwear. It will be the most memorable present for TW who is not so girly. Haha.

We also ordered finger food to go with our beer. Nachos, fried calamari and fries. The nachos were really good, except that none of us touch the green chillies. Haha.

After that, we presented TW with her present.

There…. I have put all the photographs in sequence. It started with TW opening the packet and unwrapping the suspicious looking pink packet to reveal a colourful underwear!! Shin even did the honour to reveal our initials at the back of the underwear!! It was hilarious to see Shin kept on “promoting” the underwear while TW backing off away the underwear. Hahaha. Nicely done, Shin…

After that, we indulge into the Haagen Dazs ice cream cake that Pui See bought from 1U.

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

The cake was absolutely yummy. Definitely worth the price.

I went home with a full stomach that day. 50% is from the food, beer and cake. the other 50% is from all those laughing, gossips and, most importantly, the feeling of being loved and cared by the important girls in my life. Can’t wait to meet them again during the New Year party!!! Woooooohoooooo~~~

Shimino

My first crepe was actually from London during my Europe trip. I bought it at Chinatown and finish the whole thing on my own since my sis and Brandon koko refused to even try a little bit of it. I love crepes because they are decorated nicely with fruits and cream all around it. I knew that there is a newly opened crepe stall at Ikano but did not have a chance to try it because everytime I passed by the stall, my tummy was full because of the meal earlier that I had.

Calvin went to Pavillion with Vincent today to try some finger food for his company upcoming event. So he waited for me at Pavillion. Initial plan was to catch a movie while waiting for the jam to subside but Narnia’s show was around 7pm. We wanted to go home for dinner cause mum made chicken rice and ABC soup for Calvin, just as requested. So we decided to do some window shopping. Upon meeting up with Calvin, I suggested to go for light snack because I was hungry and not in the mood for window shopping after seeing the bag that I wanted carried around by other people. Haihh….. depressing betul. Anyway, we were on our way to Snowflake when I saw a banner for Shimino nearby the elevator. Calvin suggested to try this place out since both of us have never been to this new outlet.

IMAG0425

IMAG0426

It is located at the outer walkway, nearby Quiksilver. There are two tables and a few chairs nearby the stalls for the customers to sit and enjoy the crepes.

IMAG0424

IMAG0422

IMAG0427

From the counter, you can see plastic crepes for display which will give you a glimpse of what are the ingredients that you can put into your crepe. It varies from fruits like banana, strawberry, kiwi and others to ice cream and even cheese cake. Since we will be home for dinner, we decided to choose something light and both of us agreed on strawberries. I somehow lost the photograhs of Calvin holding the crepe, exactly like Miss Universe. Boohooooooo. There is something wrong with my phone. I have never drop my phone and it is always protected by my phone pouch. Somehow, it went cuckoo today. My photos keep on disappearing even though I did not delete them. Anyway, the crepe was quite good. I love the crepe skin as the dough tasted quite nice. the amount of cream and strawberries given were just right as there was not extra cream dripping off the crepe at all. Love it so much and will be back for more.

That’s all. I am really sad that my phone is starting to have memory loss. I sayang my phone very much. Maybe it’s a hint that I should get a new phone. iPhone?? *hint hint hint*

Oink Oink, Nom Nom and Pooh Pooh

I have always wanted to try Ninja Joe but they used to have only 1 outlet at Tropicana City Mall. I rarely go to that mall because it was quite far and besides cinema, there pretty much isn’t anything interesting at that place. I have went there several time for dinner with Calvin but I guess nothing was nice as we did not went back for second time. Hehe. Pork burger is the only reason I want to try Ninja Joe. Besides McD in Thailand (must try their pork burger on the upcoming trip…. heard that they are awesome!!), Ninja Joe is the only fast food outlet I know that serve pork burger. They have a new outlet in Sunway Pyramid, just next to T-Bowl.

IMAG0411

IMAG0412

IMAG0415

Just like other fast food restaurant, the restaurant has a simple design. I don’t think fast food restaurant has to have fancy or expensive design because like their food, customers come and go pretty fast as well. Their menu is very small and simple but is different from the normal fries and burger that we can get outside. We have to choose the quantity of burgers that we would like to order –> the flavour/type of sauce for each burger –> to size up our burger or not –> complete the meal with fries or drinks –> to add other side dishes or not. We decided to start with Original and teriyaki with one drink and fries and Shuriken.

IMAG0416

IMAG0417

IMAG0418

IMAG0419

I knew about the burger coming in small size. I don’t mind actually. It is getting harder for me to finish a McChicken. Something wrong with my appetite I guess. I get hungry very quickly but then will be feeling full after a few mouthful of food. Bad thing is weight never get down at all. Haihhh…… Let’s just focus on the pork burger, shall we? Hehe. For us, the original one was kind of tasteless while the teriyaki sauce was quite nice but too sweet. The tomato is actually nearly as big as the pork patty. The craziest thing was Calvin actually ate the whole burger including the tomato as well. He don’t really take tomato in such big piece, you know. Haha. I guess he must be pretty hungry that day. The Shuriken is something like pork nugget with a little bit of diced potato in it. Quite nice but too oily. The oil literally dripped into the black try from the edge of the paper container. Ewww…… But overall, the meal was not bad. Definitely worth another visit to try other flavour.

Hokkaido Ichiba

Christmas is just around the corner. Like my previous company, ING has a tradition for exchange Christmas present too. But we have to buy the present first before drawing lots on who to give the present to/who give us their present. It was hard to buy a present that is suitable for both male and female, old and young, any races and suitable to use. Calvin has to buy a present for his colleague too but he already knew earlier whom to buy for. So last weekend, we went Mid Valley for Christmas shopping. We also plan to get presents for each other. Easier this way because he will definitely like and use it and I don’t have to crack my head on thinking what to buy. We don’t plan to surprise each other with presents on Christmas. Surprises are left for our birthday and anniversary. Anyway, after window shopping for nearly an hour, we decided to have lunch as it was getting late and I am quite hungry. Initial plan was Taiwanese food but Calvin prefer Zanmai. Since both restaurants have a long queue at the front, we decided to walk around and try our luck at other restaurant. Then we came across Hokkaido Ichiba. Since none of us have tried their food before, we decided to have our lunch there.

IMAG0402

IMAG0404

IMAG0403

This restaurant includes a separate dessert area for those who just want to have dessert and drinks, and also a mini market at the other side selling all kinds of Japanese food. You can get cookies, noodles and ice cream from the mini market. All from Japan!! There is a queue there and we thought the place was full. But we can see an empty table from where we stand. So why don’t they let the people in front of us in? Anyway, me and Calvin were too busy chatting that we did not ask much. When it was our turn, we were taken to a round table that could accommodate 4 to 5 people. After sitting down, we realised that there were a few more empty tables at the back and another area all empty. Why do they make the customers stand in line then? So that other people will notice the line and will think that the food is awesome? Haihhh… no idea. I was too hungry to think all that, so we quickly order our food.

IMAG0405

IMAG0406

IMAG0407

The interior of the restaurant was quite nice. The kitchen is situated right in the middle of the restaurant where the customers can see the chefs busy preparing the food through the glass wall. The tables are mostly round shape and as if in tiny individual island. We can view the Federal Highway and the houses on the hill from our table. We do not have to wait long for our food, even though the restaurant was quite full that day.

IMAG0408

IMAG0409

We ordered the set lunch since we are not in the mood for ala carte meals. My beef teppanyaki wasn’t bad but then the beef were cut “cincai-ly”. Some were thicker than the others and the last piece has to be the biggest one. Chawan mush was good, warm and smooth. The cold mashed potato appetizer was quite interesting for the both of us. Calvin’s Unagi and sushi set was quite nice but one of the Unagi was stale. Luckily, the other one tasted quite good. I ate his scallop sushi while he finished the rest. Overall, I think his meal was better than mine even though most of our side dishes are the same. But his main of the main dish was way better than mine.

After lunch, we went straight to get Christmas presents for each other. Shall blog about the presents after Christmas. Haha.

How I spend my holiday :)

Arghh… I’m so tired that my brain can no longer function properly. Just 2 more days left for me to rush all my work and submit it to the big boss on Monday. Wuu wuu wuu :( I don’t want to work on Saturday.

Oh well, let’s talk about something happy which need not use much of my brain function. Awal Muharram was spent eat, walk, eat, walk and eat. Did some early activity in the morning and after changing, headed to The Curve for shopping. I have not step into a shopping centre for a really long time. Most of the weekend was spent lazing around at Calvin’s place and watch tv. Naiseeeee :) Anyway, let’s get back to Awal Muharram shall we? Hehe. Reached The Curve quite early, so we headed for breakfast with his mum.

IMAG0393

IMAG0392

We headed to the LG of Ikano Power Centre. There are a few restaurants there and we decided to choose Malaysia style breakfast. There’s a small area with tables and chairs and few smaller stalls around it. Mama Nyonya has to be the most obvious from all the stalls as you can see a lot of kuihs and other local food arranged neatly at the front of the stall. Choosing what to eat among so much choices was a difficult task for me. At the end, Nasi Lemak won :) In fact, both me and Calvin choose Nasi Lemak. I’m not really a big fan of kuihs as most of them have coconut thingy all over them. Calvin’s mum bought mee siam for herself. We ordered soya bean from another stall nearby. The Nasi Lemak was just normal. The one behind my office is way better :)

After breakfast, we went for shopping. I did not buy any clothing for myself (Note to self: Seriously need more working attire and casual top/blouse and stop buying t-shirt) but bought a white purse for me to store my cards. I don’t like my purse being all tight and bulky by all those cards. I rather it be bulky because of all the cash I have. Haha. Calvin on the other hand bought 2 cute shirts from Padini. Seriously, I find guy clothing much more nicer than girls nowadays. Haihhh….. After that, we went to Ikea to check out their new furniture. Everytime I visit Ikea with Calvin, I always tell him how my dream house should look like and how I wish that all my furniture are bought from Ikea because they are all so nice and pretty and also space saving :) Brilliant and intelligent designs :) Me likey….

After that, we headed for the food area for lunch. There were 2 long queues at the food area. Since I wanted to eat the meatballs so much, Calvin said that we should just stay in the queue and wait for however long it takes. Aw…. so nice of him. He is always the one that don’t let me give up so easily. But then he is also the one that dislike to queue up. He rather not buy/eat/have whatever that the line was queuing for. But, if I want that thing, he will be the one to really queue up for it even though it’s a really long queue. Thank you dear :) Oh, we queued up for 40 to 45 minutes for these yummies….

IMAG039812 pieces of meatballs, garden salad and 2 pieces of chicken wings. It was Calvin’s first time trying the chicken wings and he loves it very much. As for the meatballs, still as yummy as before. Garden salad is a must to (try) balance out all the meat that we were consuming. We left the place with a happy stomach.

After lunch, we walked around a little more before headed back to my house for dinner. Nothing beats home cooked dinner by my mum :) I’m lucky to have a mummy who cooks. Most of the aunties nowadays leave all the cooking to the maids as she has other things to do. But mum cooked food is the best in world as it has motherly love as the main ingredient :) Hehe.

Wish me luck for tomorrow’s battle with MAS!!! Gambateh!!!

Annual Dinner and Kin Kin Pan Mee

Kin Kin pan mee is the first thing that cross my mind when I think of chilli pan mee. Why? Because being one of the most famous stall that sells chilli pan mee at Chinatown area, it is also the first stall that has the most spicy dried chilli that I have ever been to. I love spicy food but I can only take like around 1 small table spoon of their dried chilli together with the noodle.

IMAG0368  IMAG0367 There is one outlet at Pandan Indah. I have an embarrassing memory at this place with Sai Weng. During our final year examination for the last paper, I think, I have this terrible ulcer in my mouth which resulted my upper and lower gums to be swollen at the side. I can’t open my mouth wide enough to put in the spoon, so I can only eat small and flat food like pan mee. At the same time, I can only chew slowly because it was damn painful. I took nearly an hour to finish my bowl of pan mee. Pity Sai Weng has to wait for me. Haha. Anyway, I was back to the same out last week with Calvin for breakfast. I ordered the dried one while he ordered the soup one. Our meal that day was not as nice as my previous trip. The soup was tasteless. But mine was slightly better as I added in a spoonful of the dried chilli paste. Oh well, no more Kin Kin pan mee for us :)

IMAG0370 I also attended my company’s annual dinner at KL Convention Centre. Their ballroom is huge. After placing around 110 tables, there are still spaces at the side and front of the stage. This is me after my annual make up and hair do with my cute driver :) Theme for this year is denim and diamonds. I am on my custom made denim dress by Darren and …. mickey mouse necklace. Haha. I cannot afford diamonds at the moment but my dress has some glitters powder on them. Both me and Calvin love my dress very much. Even though it’s a bit short but I love the design and comfortable to put on. Would be better if I am slimmer. Haihhh… diet plan failed :(

IMAG0375

IMAG0376

The view of KLCC from the ballroom’s entrance was amazing. I enjoyed myself very much that night. The food was quite good, for me. Everything was served hot. Taste wise, not bad for a big party like this. At the end of the dinner, each table was given a box of cupcakes with little cupcakes inside. Check out the cute lion :) I did not win anything from lucky draw this year. No MacBook, iPhone 4G or RM5k cash for me but I’m happy for those who won :)

After dinner, me and Calvin headed for drinks at Luna Bar as Sky Bar was full that night. Not really full but they reserved the tables for bigger group and their waiters and waitress are damn lansi. Was so angry at them for their service that night. So we headed to Luna Bar instead. After drinks and gossiping about other people, we headed home and call it a night. The following week has been really busy for me with work and work and work. Oh, I have Subway vouchers for Buy 1 Free 1 too! That has to be the best vouchers to me, by far. Hehe.

Shall end this post with ….

IMAG0378

a lovely picture of us :) Hehe.

Courtyard Garden – Finally :)

One week after the spicy meal at Aliyaa, we went back to the same place again but this time to visit the place that we initially wanted to go.

IMAG0358

IMAG0366The name of the place is Courtyard Garden, just next to Aliyaa. I can’t recall the name of the place when I first visited it few years ago but the interior is still the same. Their menu definitely changed over the years.

IMAG0348

IMAG0349

IMAG0350

IMAG0351

IMAG0352

IMAG0353

IMAG0354 The interior of the restaurant was decorated romantically. Perfect a quiet dinner for two. But they also have bigger tables for a small gathering. They have indoor and outdoor seats. I’m a magnet to mosquitoes so we requested for indoor seats. They have a rack filled with wines at the entrance and another cabinet of cigars at the other side. Perfect for those who enjoy luxury “appetizer” and “dessert”. Hehe.

IMAG0356Our drinks for the night, ice lemon tea and orange juice. For the past few weeks, I have bad luck with straws as they tend to have a tiny hole on them and super difficult for me to enjoy my drink with sucking in air as well. Haha.

 IMAG0359

IMAG0360

IMAG0362

IMAG0365

The two of us shared a seafood chowder, Caesar's Salad, mixed grill and hot chocolate pudding. I have to fit in a small dress for the following day annual dinner, hence I dare not eat much so that I won’t look like a pregnant lady. The soup and salad were for me but I shared it with Calvin because I wanted to have a few bites of meat as well. The soup was quite good. I think the portion is just right for a starter/appetizer as some restaurant serve really big portion of starter/appetizer. I am usually full before my main arrives. So I prefer smaller portion of starter/appetizer so that I could enjoy my remaining course without a bloated stomach at the end of the meal. The mix grill came together with egg and lemon sauce. It was quite nice and I have never try this before. Both of us love the lamb and Calvin said that the steak was only so-so, the one at Tony Roma’s is much better. Haha. The chocolate pudding was served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream at the side. The middle of the pudding was filled with warm chocolate syrup!! But both of us still prefer the one from Cafe Cafe. Heavenly nice :)

After dinner and gossip session about work and friends, we left the restaurant with a full stomach and headed home to sleep. That is how both of us spend a night together. But we don’t indulge on expensive all the time, maybe once or twice in a month. We can still gossip whole night long over a plate of chicken rice. Haha :)

Looking forward this weekend for more nice food. Will be trying out a restaurant that has been around KL for a really long time and Calvin said all the waitress are aunty in their late 30s and 40s :p Excited betul!!!
