Ichiban Boshi @ Pavillion

For one of my colleague’s birthday, most of us went to Ichiban Boshi since she requested for Japanese food. My office is really near to Pavillion so we went there for lunch on Friday. I told Calvin about this place. When I finished work late one day and Calvin went over to my office to pick me up, I suggested this place for dinner since its’ so near :)

It’s easy to find Ichiban Boshi since it is located opposite the Republic Food Court.

The interior of the restaurant. We sat at the table just next to the sushi belt. The sushi belt is really long and it went around the square tables. They also have a sushi bar with seats that can fit two person just directly in front of it.

This is my favourite dish because it consists nothing but mushrooms :) Initially it came out really nice in the aluminium foil but I tore the foil a little bit more than I have to. So I decided to pour the content out into the plate instead :p

Calvin, as usual, ordered the Unagi set with tempura, grilled salmon and sashimi. The grilled salmon was cold and Calvin don’t like it at all. But the Unagi was okay, edible but not the best Unagi. Hehe.

I am on diet, hence I ordered half plain udon. When I say plain, it means nothing else but udon and some spring onion. Hehe. Udon and mushroom was all I had that night. But I left the restaurant with a full stomach.

Okay, maybe Calvin don’t like that place much but at least it wasn’t a bad experience for the both of us :)

One Chef – No More!!!

There was one One Chef Restaurant at Jaya One, which I had been there for lunch with Wai Kin when it was newly opened. The interior of the restaurant looks simple, white and has a few hanging-swing-seats. We thought their food should be good, or at least okay but both of us were very disappointed with our meal there. Expensive and not nice at all. So it is in my No Good list.

They opened a new outlet at Times Square. Calvin was working on his company’s camera fair and I went there for dinner with him and visited his fair after that. I suggested that place to Calvin, wanted to give it a second chance and hoping that it will not disappoint me.

 IMAG0125

IMAG0126

IMAG0127Just like the outlet at Jaya One, the restaurant is white in colour with hanging-swing-seats. We choose the normal table and seats because it is more cooling. The hanging-swing-seats are at the side of the restaurant. I would rate the restaurant very high with the interior design and colours. Food wise, let’s just say there will be no 3rd visit anymore.

I ordered the braised chicken and Calvin had sweet and sour pork. First of all, the soup is very salty and we have no idea what soup was it. Even though my braised chicken look very dark, but it’s tasteless and served cold. I am certainly not a big fan of cold meat okay. Calvin’s sweet and sour pork was better because it was hot. I was so jealous and I nearly wanted to heat up my chicken in his mini wok. The side dishes, oh well, not much to comment about the cold peanuts, cold long bean and crunchy friend wanton.

We ordered an additional omelet and luckily it was edible. Or else, I will be a grumpy lady of the night. Seriously, they need to do something about their food, or else they will not be getting new customers. Furthermore, their shop is at the corner where very little people will pass by that place. Like the ulu-ulu kampung area. Haihhh…… that’s it. No more 3rd visit, unless they change and received a lot of good compliments. Or else, it will remain in my No Good folder.

Asahi – 2nd Round

Visited Asahi again last week when Calvin said he wanted Japanese dinner. There is only 2 Japanese Restaurant in Times Square; Kiku Sakura and Asahi. Since Asahi is nearer to the car park, we choose Asahi over Kiku Sakura. Hehe. I was quite full that day, so I did not order a full set for myself.

IMAG0123

IMAG0119

IMAG0122

On the other hand, Calvin was extremely hungry that day. He ordered Chicken Teriyaki set, 2 Unagi sushi and 1 salmon sushi. Since he ordered so much, I just order the normal temaki without avocado :) His chicken teriyaki was so-so. Nothing special or out of the ordinary. As usual, the chawan mushi and miso soup are mine to enjoy. Hehe. I had a piece of the Unagi sushi and it was just okay. But the temaki was quite good, especially the eggs all around the rice. Super crunchy. There was a thin layer of mayonnaise at the bottom of the plate, so I used it as “glue” to make sure I savour each and every egg :) Something that crunchy and fresh should not be wasted just like that. Hehe.

Anyway, I may reconsider visiting this restaurant again because I think it’s quite expensive. The sushi does not come in pairs. They are priced individually. Furthermore, their food wasn’t that great for the expensive price tag. I rather spend the same amount of money at Hajime, which reminds me I still have the RM10 voucher from the last visit. Let’s not waste the voucher, Calvin :p *hint hint*

MOF & Shabu Shabu Train

I forgot to blog about the pre-birthday-dinner of Calvin’s!!! We went to Pavillion to collect his surprise and since it was still early, we went to MOF for something light because I was very hungry at that time. We shared this mango ice cream thingy with jelly a the bottom.

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE The mango ice cream was really good. The jelly at the bottom is some kind of healthy food where it actually benefits your health. I read it from the menu. I have no idea why do I love to read menu so much. Whenever we are in a restaurant, I will request for a menu to be left on our table after ordering. I just love to read what other food that they have and maybe plan for the next visit’s food, if they are really good. Hehe. I have been to this place before with TW previously where I comment their mango’s dessert has a stale taste, as in the fishy taste. I know it’s weird but I have a weakness in describing taste okay. Let’s not start with empty cupboard taste :p

Talking about ice cream, there’s this place in Berjaya Times Square call Shabu Shabu Train that serves Japanese and Shabu Shabu. We went there for dinner after work. It was raining that day, so the first thing that never fails that come to my mind will be steamboat. Hehe. I love steamboat very much, and it’s driving TW crazy because I always request for steamboat for my birthday dinner with the girls. Hahaha.

IMAG0052They have mini stoves on each table for the shabu shabu, which can be pushed to one side if you are not in the mood for shabu shabu. There are a few wagons on each side of the restaurant with plates of things that you can add on to your shabu shabu. The coloured plates represent the price of the food. They have everything, from processed fishballs to vegetables, noodle, egg, seafood and meat.

IMAG0059Our dinner for that night. I ordered the shabu shabu set with tom yam soup. Calvin ordered the chicken rice set which comes with California roll and ice cream.  The shabu shabu was okay but the sauces were not really good. The green chilli paste from Pulau Ketam will always be my number 1 sauce for steamboat. Hehe. Calvin said his chicken rice was okay but the rice was a little bit cold. The ice cream was quite good and I finished most of the ice cream myself. There goes my diet plan. Hehe *shy*

I am super hungry now, have to go buy/make my lunch. That’s all for now.

Three Cup Chicken Restaurant

There’s this place called Three Cup Chicken just at Taman Muda. I love three cup chicken, especially the one from Taiwan because they will put this leaf which is absolutely fragrant. Me like :) We went home after work one day and realised that mom did not cook dinner. So I suggested this place since I know my parents will never eat at a restaurant that they have never been to and was not recommended by their friends. My only chance to try a stranger restaurant will be with Calvin :)

IMAG0062 This is Calvin, busy with his phone. Currently we are playing this game on our phone call Alchemy where we can combine materials into new things. It’s really interesting. They have 300 elements and so far we managed to unlock 285 elements. Hehe. Smart right? *evil laugh*

IMAG0063

IMAG0065 Our dinner for the night. Chicken floss and century egg with tofu, three cup chicken and green vegetable. The tofu combination tasted a little bit weird for me. The weird taste didn’t seemed to bother Calvin though, as he’s a big fan of tofu. Hehe. The three cup chicken was quite good. I think the leaves that I mentioned earlier are basil leaves. Now I know where to go if I want three cup chicken for dinner. Hehe. But I will not order the weird tofu again. Maybe something normal, like omelet or something. Haha.

Korean big wok

I was craving this korean big wok one day. I forgot the name of the restaurant but it’s very near to the MRR2 and Ampang exit. Introduced by Pui See and fell in love with it on the first bite. It’s actually a really big flat wok in the middle of the table where the waiter will cook the food in front of you and once it’s done, they you can scoop out the food from the wok and eat it. Absolutely yummy and hot hot hot!

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE First, we were served with this cold vineger drink as appetizer. It was quite sour so Calvin didn’t like it at all. Hehe.

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE I love their raw onion in some special sauce and served cold. I can’t stop nom-ing on them. Hehe. We did not touch the kimchi though because both of us don’t really like the taste. There was also a plate of vegetable for us to wrap our food with it and eat it together. Then there’s the korean sauce and raw garlic to go with all the wrap foodie :)

Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

This is our waiter for the night. Hehe. Our food consist of nissin noodle (extra order), chicken, vegetable, korean “nin gou” and chilli paste. We can choose the level of spiciness of our food. Since this Calvin can’t take too spicy and I have been having upset stomach for the past few days, we ordered the normal one. Calvin absolutely love the food. Am glad that he enjoyed the meal because it means will be visiting this place again for the yummy food with Calvin. Wooohooooo. And my dear girls, please organize an outing at this place again okay :) Me likey…. very much :) Even Wai Kin, my ex-colleague love their food as well. I briefly introduced her to this place when we were having Korean food for lunch not long ago. It’s easy to tell her where the place is because we went out together for drinks at her friend’s place which is just 3 to 4 shop lots away. Hehe. She brought her friends to this place after I introduced it to her and she told me that she love the food very much. Hehe. Am so proud of myself. Haha. Okay, new rule. Whoever who wanted to try this place must bring me along okay :)

The Pink Sage Relocation

Calvin do crave for American breakfast once in a while, but one day he said he wanted The Pink Sage. I was surprised by his request because I never thought he love that place as much as I do. I Google-ed about the location again since it has been a while since my last visit. Somehow, the results showed that the place has moved to Damansara area. I thought that it is another branch, so we went to the Chulan Square anyway. We were surprised to see a mamak stall at the place where The Pink Sage was supposed to be. I recalled seeing the word Solaris Dutamas in my search result earlier and thought it was at the Solaris in Mont Kiara. So we took the route where my sis used to take when she was working in Solaris Mont Kiara. We were really lucky because we passed by the real Solaris Dutamas and it is actually not the one in Mont Kiara. It’s very near to the Sri Hartamas housing area. We managed to find the place easily as it is facing the main road.

IMAG0080

IMAG0073

I prefer the current place because it is more spacious, unlike the previous place where they have less than 10 tables. They have indoor sofas and tables as well as outdoor tables for smokers. It is located on the first floor of Solaris Dutamas.

 IMAG0082

IMAG0085

IMAG0086

IMAG0087 I ordered English Breakfast tea for myself and Calvin had iced coffee. He said that his coffee was really good. They gave us free drinking water in the cool looking bottle as well. Me like, especially after a meal of all those fat and sugar, it’s better to drink some plain water so calm the stomach down a little bit.

Calvin loved their stacked breakfast from the previous visit, so he ordered it again this time but with different sausage, bread and ham. The only thing that remained the same this time was the way the egg was cook. Sunny side up, with the yolk still raw. Hehe. I ordered pancake because I love their maple syrup very much. Besides, their pancake is really good as well. I drizzled a lot of maple syrup on my pancake and it was absolutely yummylicious :)

I have yet to try them out for lunch and dinner. From the menu, everything looks really yummy. Hehe. *hint hint to Calvin*
